California RE Law Prep
About this site

Independent study material,
written from the law

What this is

California RE Law Prep is a free set of practice exams for the California real estate salesperson and broker license tests. There are twenty distinct exams. Each one follows the Department of Real Estate's published content outline, runs under the real time limit, and is scored against the real pass mark. Every question carries a written explanation and a citation to the authority the answer rests on.

What this is not

This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a product of the California Department of Real Estate or any government agency. Nothing here is a copy of a real exam question. Questions are original material written from the 2026 Real Estate Law, the Commissioner's Regulations, the Civil Code, and related public sources. A score here is practice, not a prediction of your result on the state exam.

Where the questions come from

Each question is written from the current law in effect and cites its source, from the Business and Professions Code to the Commissioner's Regulations to the Civil Code. When the law changes, questions change. If you believe an answer is wrong, check the citation shown with it. The point of citing sources is that you never have to take our word for anything.

One thing you will never find here is a recalled question from a real exam. The DRE treats reproducing actual exam content as examination subversion, and this site is built entirely from the public law instead.

Privacy

There are no accounts and no sign-up. Your answers and scores stay in your own browser's local storage and never leave your device. This site does not collect personal information.

Keeping it free

All twenty exams are free and will stay free. The site may eventually carry a small amount of advertising, accept donations, or offer an optional one-time purchase that adds conveniences like saving results across devices. None of that will ever put the exams themselves behind a sign-in.
